Look into a mysterious, mesmerizing world where life looms large.
The stunning one-million-gallon Open Sea exhibit is home to one of the most diverse communities of open-ocean animals to be found in any aquarium.
Three young pelagic stingrays have recently been added to our Open Sea exhibit. This active predator hunts small fishes, squid, jellies and shrimp in the open ocean. It can often be seen feeding upside down, grasping food in its very sharp teeth, and sometimes using its pectoral fins to manipulate food into its mouth.
A fish as big as a car glides past, while thousands of sardines move as one. Nearby, jellies shimmer and pulse. This exhibit gives the impression of an infinite ocean, and will expand your view in the same way. Go deep with our guides as they highlight their favorite spots—plus a few sneak peeks behind the scenes.
Our standards-based curriculum has been developed to provide educators with easy-to-use, Aquarium-centered science activities for the classroom.
