Watch the hustle and bustle of a coral reef community.
Try to keep up with a bevy of busy tropical fishes as they traverse the corals in our special exhibition, ¡Viva Baja! Life on the Edge.
This colorful neighborhood is home to many species of tropical fish, including the Cortez wrasse, scrawled filefish and Cortez angelfish. In the wild, coral reefs are among the most diverse and valuable ecosystems on Earth. Healthy reefs protect nearby shorelines and wetlands, and are home to thousands of species of fishes and corals.
In our Underwater Explorers program, kids ages eight to 13 can encounter amazing animals and discover the wonders of Monterey Bay while being safely guided by Aquarium dive staff in our Great Tide Pool. No experience is necessary, only a sense of adventure!
Sunburst diving beetles are now on exhibit in ¡Viva Baja! These colorful and active arthropods breathe air, but spend most of their lives under water. How? They carry their own air supply inside a bubble that looks like a bump on the rump.
Our standards-based curriculum has been developed to provide educators with easy-to-use, Aquarium-centered science activities for the classroom.
